IDSC – Africa: Postponed. Due to the escalating COVID19 situation, the organizing committee of the IDSC – Africa has been forced to postpone the conference to later this year. We had received quite a number of excellent submissions for talks that we hope will be presented on the new date. We are looking to target a revised date in October or November, by when we hope that the situation will have resolved itself. Once we have settled on this, we will let you know so that you will hopefully be able to join us for an inspiring and stimulating day! In the meantime, we will try to post content that is relevant to the conference theme on the website. Please look out for this in the next few weeks.
The first African instalment of the Insurance Data Science Conference (IDSC) is coming to Johannesburg on 20 April 2020. The international version has been held in European cities for the past 7 years and returns to London in 2020.
This one-day conference aims to bring together industry and academic experts from the fields of insurance, data science and computer science.
We are delighted to have Professor Mario Wüthrich (RiskLab, ETH Zürich) (via video link) and Marjorie Ngwenya (ALU School of Insurance, ex-President of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) as the keynote speakers.
IDSC Africa is hosted jointly by the Actuarial Society of South Africa, The University of the Witwatersrand and QED Actuaries and Consultants. The conference will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre. Registration will open in early 2020 and a call for papers will be issued at the beginning of December. The event is open to everyone who is interested in applications of data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence in insurance and actuarial science.
